A glass tabletop is the perfect way to add style and elegance to any room. But they are still glass, and glass can be fragile and break if not properly taken care of. This is why it’s important to give your glass tabletops special attention to maintain their elegant look and condition. And by following the below tips, you can have beautiful tables for years to come, looking as if they were only purchased just yesterday.

Avoid Heavy Objects

Glass tabletops are durable and can carry a significant amount of weight, but they all have their limits. To keep the glass looking beautiful for years to come, avoid placing heavy objects on the tables to avoid the glass from breaking or cracking.

Purchase Glass Cleaning Solution

What’s brilliant about glass tabletop is that it’s easy to keep that beautiful shiny appeal. All you need to do is use a soft cloth and some quality glass cleaner (we recommend M&T Glass Cleaner, of course) to wipe up any fingerprints and dust. Look for a microfiber cloth that is absorbent to give a good shine. Avoid paper towels as they will leave lint, and never use abrasive materials that can leave scratches in the glass surface.

Use Coasters and Mats

Sharp and rough edges of classes and other decorative pieces can cause scratching. To keep your table top looking its best, use coasters and table mats to add an extra layer of protection.

Buffing Wheel for Scratches

If your table has lots of light and little scratches you may be able to remove them with a buffing wheel. This can make your table look as new as the day you bought it.

Transparent Nail Enamel for Marks

If you have unsightly marks on the table top, try using transparent nail enamel to hide the marks by filling in the cavities. However, if the marks are large, you may need to contact a professional to remove them.

Emery Paper for Chips

Over time, it’s common to experience a chip or two in the glass tabletop. But you may be able to buff the chip down so it doesn’t look bad and hurt others. Try using emery paper and a little water in a circular motion. This may help smooth out the damaged area and give your glass a beautiful finish once again.

Glass tabletops are a beautiful addition to your favourite rooms. But like all your favourite furnishings it needs maintenance and care to continue to look its best. If you take care of them the right way, then your glass tabletops can last for decades.
